PEOPLE MANAGEMENT FOR SENIOR MANAGERS

Programme Objective:


To enhance the managerial skills of senior managers and equip them with the essential skills to manage their people.

  • To provide managers with the skills to think strategically, to understand the total business and be confident to make decisions that support strategy

    • The role of the senior manager
    • Key leadership traits
    • Situational leadership styles
    • Ken Blanchard’s Leadership style inventory
    • Leadership case studies
    • Understand the benefits of teamwork in the organisation
    • Understand the stages in the team lifecycle
    • Demonstrate team facilitation skills
    • Practice teamwork through team building exercises

    Day 2: Communication and Influencing

    • Understanding behaviours - personal behaviour and other peoples behaviour
    • Managing impressions including assertion skills
    • Influencing and persuasion and using personal power
    • Influencing role plays
    • Conflict Management Styles

    Day 3: Strategic Management and Performance Management

    • Understanding the strategic and operational dimension of the business
    • The strategic management process
    • Analysis of the business environment
    • Benefits of performance management
    • Performance management procedures
    • Barriers to performance management
    • Designing a performance agreement
    • Evaluating and appraising performance
    • Feedback skills
